Hey Dreamer!
I’d like you to count how many times fear has won the battle over your desires.
The big ones and the little ones.
Last year, I had a desire to retreat at a friend’s home in the Madawaska Valley about an hour outside of the Algonquin National Park – but fear was getting in the way. Today, unless I read my journals, I can’t even start to tell you what was getting in the way. I finally faced this fear and moved to the countryside. It ended up being one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.
Then, I got invited to spend a couple of weeks in NYC. After battling with my fear, yes again, I decided to extend my stay for an extra month. I found a room to rent at another friend’s home, and everything fell into place. As you can imagine, New York in the summer was AH-MAZING. I kept working remotely, and I took advantage of all this big city has to offer in the summertime.
Then, I returned to Canada after another opportunity landed on my lap. One I was initially afraid to say yes to, even though my heart was telling me to GO FOR IT!
I’d be lying if I told you I never deal with fear. I often have to overcome the back-and-forth struggle between fear and my desires on a regular basis.
Life is constantly challenging me to choose between my heart’s desires and my fearful thoughts. I know life does this to you too.
But which one is your default?
Do you choose the safest options every time or do you allow yourself to step into the unknown to experience something new and different?
As a curious soul, if you never take a step forward into the unknown, you’ll never know what can open up for you.
So, as we wrap up the summer, and embrace the final stretch of the year, I invite you to ask yourself this simple question: Which ones have you been leaning into this year, your fearful thoughts or your desires?
And if you’ve been feeling stuck in the fear, what’s a small step you could take now to say YES to you?
In my case, I ended up having an amazing summer because I chose to say YES to my desires. It has even led me to finally say yes to a secret career desire.
Don’t miss my upcoming rebranding to find out what this secret career desire was!
Inspiring YOU to Say YES to YOU!
